Starting, October 1st four provinces in Canada will make changes in their minimum wages. These four provinces are Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. New wages are decided on the basis of inflation rates at regular intervals. Let us understand the impact of increase in minimum wage and whether it’s actually an enough increase for people to sustain with decent lifestyle. We will use Ontario as an example in this article.
How are wages calculated ?
Wages are simply calculated on the basis of hours, a person has worked per week. On an average a person works 39 hours per week in Ontario.
