LMIA for Business

Labour Market Impact Assessments

A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that Canadian employers must obtain from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) before they can hire a foreign worker through certain immigration programs. The LMIA is designed to ensure that hiring a foreign worker will not have a negative impact on the Canadian labor market and that there are no Canadian citizens or permanent residents available to fill the job vacancy.

To obtain an LMIA, Canadian employers must demonstrate that they have made reasonable efforts to hire Canadian citizens or permanent residents for the job vacancy. They must also provide information about the job vacancy, such as the duties and responsibilities, wages and benefits, and the required qualifications and experience.

There are two types of LMIA: a positive LMIA and a negative LMIA.

A positive LMIA means that ESDC has determined that hiring a foreign worker for the job vacancy is necessary and will not have a negative impact on the Canadian labor market.

A negative LMIA means that ESDC has determined that hiring a foreign worker for the job vacancy is not necessary and that there are Canadian citizens or permanent residents available to fill the job vacancy.

The LMIA process can be complex and time-consuming, and it is important for Canadian employers to understand the requirements and procedures involved.

At West Vision Immigration, our experienced and licensed immigration consultants can assist Canadian employers in obtaining an LMIA for a foreign worker.

We can provide guidance and support throughout the application process and help ensure that all requirements are met to increase the chances of a successful application.

LMIA For business

As an immigration consultancy, we can help businesses navigate the LMIA process and increase their chances of obtaining a positive LMIA for a foreign worker. Here are some ways we can assist:

  • Pre-screening: We can pre-screen potential candidates for eligibility before a business invests time and money into the LMIA process. This helps ensure that the business is investing in the right candidate and increases the chances of a successful application.
  • Job Advertising: We can assist businesses in creating and posting job advertisements in accordance with LMIA requirements. We can help businesses craft effective job descriptions and determine the best platforms to reach potential candidates.
  • LMIA Application: We can guide businesses through the LMIA application process, ensuring that all required information and documentation is included. We can also help businesses address any concerns or questions that ESDC may have during the application process.
  • Compliance: Once the LMIA is granted, we can help businesses ensure compliance with all required reporting and documentation. This includes regular reporting to ESDC and ensuring that the foreign worker is meeting all necessary employment standards.

By working with us, businesses can ensure that the LMIA process is handled efficiently and effectively, reducing the risk of costly errors or omissions that could result in a negative LMIA decision.

Our experienced and licensed immigration consultants can provide guidance and support every step of the way, from pre-screening candidates to post-approval compliance.
